Ev and Sam's First Date

Evelyn has been anxiously awaiting the arrival of Sam, son of our good friends Katie and Chad, and he finally made his appearance a couple weeks ago!  Sam is only a couple months younger, but is already snuggling with our girl on the couch.  Sam's mama did sternly remind these two that there will be no more couch shenanigans and that all future dates will be chaperoned by Sam's Aunt Natalie.  Thank goodness:)

OK, so maybe they don't get off on the right foot...

...but then Evelyn decides that Sam's not so bad, especially if she can have a paci, too.

Pay Close Attention...

...and note Evelyn's locale in these pictures.  She is attempting a nap in her crib (rather than in the sling or the backpack where she spends most of her time).

This peaceful repose did not last long, but was a start.  Maybe we'll try again next week:)

Weekend Update

Our girl had a busy social schedule this weekend....a Vandy basketball game, her mama's 30th birthday celebration, and the Chicago Bears game on TV, not to mention brunching and strolling with some good friends and her godfather Mark.

Worn out from all her cheering at the Vandy game

Here we all are at Puckett's Grocery in Leiper's Fork (just for the record, the BBQ is awesome)....

Ev is trying to decide what she thinks of Puckett's with Grammie and Grandaddy.  Ultimately, she decided it was her bedtime and spent the rest of the evening checking out some dark corners in the back in the arms of her mama and daddy:)

Telling D some secrets during the Bears game was much more fun than watching Jay Cutler self-destruct.

Outfit check:  Euro baby.  Onesie courtesy of Miss Rachel Worrell.  The leg-warmers really make it, I think:)

After all her partying, this girl is all tuckered out.

Speaking of tuckered out, we ordered a so-called Miracle Blanket in a last-ditch effort to contain our small Houdini in a swaddle, and have been rewarded with sleeps of 8-10 consecutive hours the last three nights.  Hallelujah and yay for the Miracle Blanket.

Snow Day!

Little Bit has Mama AND Daddy home to play today....and she is all tuckered out already:)  We are waiting for the wind-chill to rise into double-digits before we head outside for a snow walk, and until then, we'll be staying warm inside, snoozing on the couch....

Learning Curves

It is truly amazing watching a baby encounter the world on a daily basis.  Dave and I often joke about the difference between what we learn and what Evelyn learns each day; our learning curves are pitifully flat compared to hers.  Over the last couple weeks, for example, Evelyn has had a number of "firsts":  grabbing and holding onto objects, gurgling and (what appears to be) early attempts at laughing, sucking her thumb, and alertly gazing at her surroundings.  And of course, there is the incomprehensible amount of language and sound the girl absorbs daily.  So what have Evelyn's highly- educated, culturally-literate parents learned lately?  Ummmm...not nearly as much:)

10 Weeks and Going Strong...

Welcome to Team Berry's blog!  Check back here whenever you need a little Berry fix in your life:)

First things first:  it is Eorr's 10-week birthday today!

Evelyn Orr Berry, born 11/2/10 at 5:31 PM

Since then, Little Bit has made the most of her brief time on this earth.  So far, she loves to...

...hang out with her cousins Piper and Lily...

...hike in the woods with her daddy...

...cheer at Vandy basketball games with Grammie and Grandaddy...

...cuddle with D...

...talk to Honey and her Aunts MC and Ellen...

...giggle with Douglas-the-Diaper-Changing-Dog...

...and just plain look cute.

We love, love, love having this sweet girl around and can't wait to see what she does next.  Happy 10 weeks, Boo!
